As per The Vanguard, Azunna Akpelu, the National President of the Ogbako Ndigbo Nile, stated during the group's inauguration in Owerri that Ndigbo is committed to uniting people from both the North and South. He emphasized the need to counter the false narratives about Ndigbos. Akpelu highlighted that lies are being spread about Igbo people hating Hausas and Yorubas, which is untrue.

Akpelu emphasized that Ogbako Ndigbo is prepared to unite everyone from both the North and South to speak with a single voice. He stated that Ndigbo wants to be involved in all matters concerning them and that if they do not assert their presence, they will not be acknowledged. He stressed the importance of countering the lies being spread about them, noting that false claims of Igbo hatred towards Hausas and Yorubas are untrue. Those spreading these lies are creating divisions in Nigeria, and addressing and correcting this issue is part of their agenda. ( Picture used for illustrative purpose )

He remarked, "Ogbako Ndigbo is ready to bring all of us together—the North and South—to speak in one voice. Ndigbo wants to participate in everything that concerns us. The way it is, if you do not say this is the place you are, you will not be noticed. We must come out and stop the lies that are told about us. Again, we are being told lies that Igbo hate Hausa and Igbo hate Yoruba, which is not true. Those saying this are creating enemies in Nigeria, and it is part of the issue we will address and correct."
