Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc Kenya party, has levelled grave accusations against the administration of President William Ruto. She alleges that during demonstrations against the Finance Bill 2024, the regime is responsible for senseless mass murders. Karua claims that these aggressive acts have caused numerous fatalities and injuries, transforming generally orderly demonstrations into chaotic scenes.
Karua argues that these events are being used as a deliberate political manoeuvre by the Ruto administration. Simply put, Karua stated, "The goal is to justify violating civil liberties and declaring a state of emergency." She believes that by using these tactics, President Ruto is suppressing dissent and consolidating his power.
There has been a great deal of opposition to the Finance Bill 2024 in Kenya. Many locals believe the law is expensive, and protests have occurred in multiple places. The majority of these protests were peaceful at first. However, there have been numerous reports of violent crimes and mass shootings, which has intensified the situation considerably.
