According to 90min, former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata believes that the club should center their culture around captain Bruno Fernandes, highlighting the midfielder's leadership qualities and consistency on and off the pitch.

Appointed as Manchester United captain by Erik ten Hag last summer, Fernandes has emerged as a pivotal figure for the team, demonstrating remarkable leadership even amidst the club's fluctuating form.

Despite suffering a broken bone in his hand, Fernandes has remained influential, contributing nine goals in his last six appearances across all competitions, including a standout performance in the recent 4-2 victory over Sheffield United.

Speaking to ESPN, Mata emphasized the importance of Fernandes's leadership, urging young players to emulate his example both in training and during matches.

"I can tell you that for me, there is a great leader in there right now, which is the captain, Bruno," Mata expressed.

"He's a top, top player, but he's even better as a person."

Mata believes that Fernandes embodies the essence of being a Manchester United player, consistently displaying the right attitude and commitment to the team.

"For me, the culture of the club should be built around him," Mata asserted.

"He's a great example for all the new generation, the players that are playing now for the team, to look up to him the way he trains, the way he behaves."

Looking ahead to the FA Cup final against Manchester City, Fernandes aims to lead Manchester United to victory and lift his first trophy as captain, further solidifying his role as a key figure in the club's future endeavors.
