Every time the President who is the Commander-in-chief of the Kenya Defence Forces makes military changes, at least there is always one general or officer who is thrust into the limelight.
Though the recent appointment of Lieutenant General Charles Kahariri as the Vice Chief of Defence Forces, has overshadowed all the other appointments, the elevation of Brigadier Luka Kutto to the rank of Major General should never be overlooked.
Major General Kutto would later be appointed as the new General Commanding Officer, Eastern Command to succeed the now Lieutenant General Juma Mwinyikai who was appointed as the new Commandant, National Defence College.

In his new position, the Kenya Army General will be in-charge of the country's defence from the Eastern front.
A seasoned General with almost three decades of military service, Major General Kutto had previously served in Somalia as part of the African Mission in Somalia and later, African Transition Mission in Somalia. In the troubled Horn of Africa country, he served as sector v brigade commander.
Now as he finds himself in the high echelons of military command, Major General Kutto is one man to watch in President William Ruto's future appointments.
Will he pull a surprise and rise to the rank of Lieutenant General and possibly take over the command of Kenya Army? Well, only time will tell.
