According to politics nigeria news, Certain leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State have made claims that Governor Douye Diri is contemplating defecting from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In anticipation of this purported move, the APC stalwarts have urged President Bola Tinubu to reject any overtures from Governor Diri seeking to join the ruling party.

Addressing the press on Monday in Asaba, Samuel Yousuo, the chairman of the APC Stakeholders Forum, Bayelsa State, alongside the forum's secretary, Ebigoni Gabriel, cautioned President Tinubu to exercise caution regarding any potential alliance with Governor Diri.

“Bayelsa APC does not need Diri; we are capable of winning without him if the president supports our reconciliatory efforts.

We’re constrained to act as we observe the unholy romance between Governor Diri and aides of the president coordinated by the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila,” the party chieftains asserted.

Furthermore, the APC leaders accused Governor Diri of working against President Tinubu's victory in the 2023 presidential election and claimed that he was already collaborating with certain northern PDP elements for the 2027 election.

Mocking Diri's political influence within the PDP, they remarked that no significant political figure from the PDP would defect alongside him to the APC.

They asserted that if he chooses to defect, he would be isolated and lack electoral value.

Responding to these allegations, the chief press secretary to the governor, Daniel Alaibrah, dismissed them as baseless.

He retorted, “This is the voice of Jacob and the hand of Esau.

Some persons are behind this mischief. In any case, who are these persons that think they can dictate who the president goes into an alliance with?”
