The chairman of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Hashim Dungurawa, has accused President Bola Tinubu of destabilizing the state by attempting to impose the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, on the Emirate due to their shared Yoruba background, LEADERSHIP News reports.

Addressing journalists on Sunday, Dungurawa highlighted the achievements of the NNPP in Kano over the past year while expressing concerns over the special protection provided to Emir Bayero by the Nigerian Army, Police, DSS, and other security agencies. He warned that Tinubu’s interference in the Kano Emirate tussle would backfire in the 2027 elections, emphasizing that the President's efforts to use his kinsmen and Bayero’s alleged Yoruba lineage would not gain him favor in Kano.

According to LEADERSHIP News reports, Dungurawa said, "If the President thinks he will use a few of his kinsmen in Kano and the alleged Bayero’s Yoruba lineage to continue to keep the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero in the State, let him wait for 2027, we will show him that those people will not help him".

Dungurawa appealed to Tinubu to end the Kano Emirate debacle by ensuring the removal of the deposed Emir from the state. He also reiterated that the NNPP would field Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as its presidential candidate in 2027, confident that Kwankwaso would become Nigeria’s next president. Additionally, Dungurawa called for a review of the 2019 election results, insisting that former governor Abdullahi Ganduje did not legitimately win his second term as Kano State governor.
