Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja (COAS) has told the Nigerian Army’s troops they have the professional skills and capacity to tackle insecurity and defend the country’s territorial integrity.
In a statement signed by the acting assistant director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Atang Solomon, the army chief said Nigeria today boasts of an Army that is “globally reckoned with, victory-focused and understands the underlying spiritual component of fighting power.”
He ascribed the army’s operational successes to God, as conspicuously captured by its motto: “Victory is from God Alone.”

A five-storey building owned by the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has collapsed along Ahmadu Bello Way in Abuja.
The building, according to the report, collapsed around 9:pm yesterday sending panic to the entire neighbourhood.
In a swift reaction, personnel of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command immediately cordoned off the entire area.
It was gathered that the collapsed building was under renovation.
Eyewitnesses said some persons might have been trapped in the building.

RESIDENTS of the Iludun community in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area, LCDA, yesterday, raised the alarm that the activities along the railway corridor and near Iludun market have claimed at least 10 lives.
They, however, urged the Lagos State government to address the security challenge in the area.
When Vanguard visited the community, the residents reported a rise in crime, including theft, assault, rape and several attacks which resulted to the deaths of some victims.
They expressed fear for their safety, particularly when passing the railway corridor in the evening or early in the morning.

Operatives of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested three suspects involved in various criminal activities, including theft, burglary and fraud in various parts of Kwara State.
This was announced in a statement by Mr Ayoola Shola, the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) on Tuesday.
He said one of those arrested by operatives of NSCDC was one Ibrahim Wasiu, 31, from Eyenkorin Area of Ilorin.
Shola said the arrest followed a report from one Mumini Kabir, of several burglaries at his residence.
