The interview, which has since garnered significant public attention, delved into the details of how Chiemela's brother passed away after consuming Tiger Nuts, highlighting a heartbreaking narrative.
Chiemela described waking up in tears, overwhelmed by the loss of his brother. He was the only one present when his brother took his last breath, a memory that continues to haunt him. The tragedy unfolded at his brother's workplace, where he had initially bought and consumed a single Tiger Nut without incident. The following day, however, he bought four more, which led to severe health complications.
On that fateful Tuesday, after consuming the Tiger Nuts, Chiemela's brother began experiencing intense diarrhea and vomiting, which persisted for over six hours. These symptoms quickly escalated, leading to his collapse and subsequent death. Chiemela was informed of his brother's condition late in the evening, receiving a phone call from his brother's friend that delivered the devastating news.
The cause of death was linked to cholera, a bacterial infection often spread through contaminated water or food. Chiemela stressed that the preparation of the Tiger Nuts was the likely source of the infection. This revelation has sparked discussions on the importance of food safety and hygiene, especially concerning the preparation and sale of consumables.
Chiemela's brother was known for his dedication to his work, and his untimely death has underscored the critical need for proper sanitation practices. According to him, "I never ever imagined that I will lose my brother, when I woke up today, I just burst into tears. I was the only one who was with him when life left his body and he was laying on the ground lifeless. The event that led to my brother's death happened on Monday at his working place. He bought one Tiger Nut from one of their intern that sell provisions, so he bought it that Monday and took it and everything was okay".
"But on Tuesday, he went and bought 4 Tiger Nuts, that was when the problem started, that particular Tuesday, he started purging, he was purging and vomiting at the same time for more than six hours and then from there he collapsed and died. That was what killed him, around 10pm, his friend called me on the phone and asked if I'm Caleb's brother and I said yes that I'm his elder brother. He then asked me to start coming to LSDPC immediately, I asked him what the problem is and he told me that my brother is dead, that was how I heard about my brother's demise".
"It's hard to know that he's dead, It was how the Tiger Nuts was prepared that made him to contact Cholera and that was what killed him finally. Everybody knows that my brother was very hardworking, he doesn't joke with his work. People should take clean water very seriously because it's very important. It's really sad that it's the same thing he stood for that took his life at the end".
