Chibike Ikenga, the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has alleged that the 27 lawmakers under the leadership of Martins Amaewhule do not hold valid APC membership cards and have failed to meet their financial obligations to the party. Ikenga argued that this non-compliance with the party’s regulations renders their claims to APC membership illegitimate.

In an interview with Channels Television, Ikenga explained that the court had invalidated the membership claims of these lawmakers, stating that they had not followed the proper procedures to join the APC in Rivers State. "The Court struck down the claimed membership of the APC by the 27 lawmakers. The processes of becoming members of the APC in Rivers state had not been complied with and their names are not in the register. The 27 lawmakers do not have APC membership cards and they never paid their dues as required," Ikenga said.

Ikenga noted that, as a result of this court decision, the 27 lawmakers are legally obligated to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where they initially secured their political mandates. "So upon this decision, they are returned by the law to their party where they had already secured the mandate," he added.
