Police Arrest Notorious Kidnapping Kingpin in Yobe

Yobe State Police arrested Usmanu Garba, a notorious kidnapping kingpin, on July 5, 2024. Garba, 30, from Katarko Village, Gujba LGA, was apprehended while spending proceeds from a recent kidnapping. He is part of a gang involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, and cattle rustling. The gang recently kidnapped a resident in Babaram Muktum, demanding a ransom of N1.6 million. Other gang members are still at large. Garba confessed to the crime and is cooperating with the police. The Commissioner of Police urged public vigilance and reporting of suspicious activities.

79-Year-Old Abducted In Kaduna Community

Comrade Elder Takai Agang Shamang, a 79-year-old philanthropist and Labour Congress member, was kidnapped from his residence in Bikini-Tsoraurang, Kaura LGA, Kaduna State, on Friday evening. His daughter, Mrs. Grace Yohannah Abbin, confirmed the incident, stating a large group of kidnappers abducted him. Authorities are investigating, and efforts are underway to secure his release. The community and family are appealing for any information that could aid in his safe return.

Sanwo-Olu, Others Felicitate Adedayo at 60

Dayo Adedayo, an award-winning author, cultural anthropologist, and photographer, celebrated his 60th birthday with a thanksgiving ceremony at Atlantic Beach Estate, Lekki, Lagos. The event was attended by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife Ibijoke, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, and other close friends and family. Sanwo-Olu, who has known Adedayo for over 40 years, read a Bible passage, led a chorus, and delivered a speech praising Adedayo's qualities and life journey. Adedayo expressed gratitude for the support and presence of his guests.

Atiku Alleges Police Disobey Court Orders

Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, criticized the Nigeria Police for violating citizens' rights and court orders. He condemned the arrest and transport of Yusuf Sheriff Banki from Abuja to Maiduguri, despite a court order preventing such action. Atiku urged the police to release Banki unconditionally, emphasizing the importance of the rule of law and condemning the police's impunity.
