According to information acquired on Thursday, July 4, 2024, a 72-year-old security guard who was remanded in prison detention following his arrest for alleged negligence over missing objects at his workplace has now been released. The Headfort Foundation for Justice, an advocacy group, made the announcement on its X handle.

According to them, the elderly guy, whose name is simply Mr. Alfred, was taken into custody by the Ogun State police on June 21, 2024. According to Thursday's post by the organisation, the individual is shown here after he is released from prison. He was apprehended after the company (names omitted) discovered that some of its belongings had gone missing.

The company reasoned that, as the security guard, he should have knowledge of how those items had gone missing. He was one of three people taken into custody; on June 23, he and the other two were brought before the court. He was released on bond after entering a not guilty plea, but he was sent to prison because he could not fulfil the bail requirements.

One of the foundation's solicitors took up his case and represented him in court after learning about his circumstances during an advocacy visit to the prison. But on July 1, the man's bail was procured by the foundation, and after a week in prison, he was returned to his family. Additionally, the lawsuit was postponed until July 17, 2024.
