Dele Farotimi, a lawyer and former spokesperson for the Obi/Datti presidential campaign council, has stated that the Yoruba and Igbo languages don't have a specific word for "corruption."

In a video Farotimi recently shared on his Facebook page, he said this is because the Igbo culture and the Yoruba culture didn't originally deal with the kind of corruption seen today. He said language is evolutionary and the Yoruba culture, for instance, wasn't prepared for the level of putrefaction present in the modern society.Screenshot of Farotimi's post

In Dele Farotimi's words: "I dare say there is no Yoruba or Igbo word for corruption, you might begin to describe it but nothing in our cultures prepared us for what we are witnessing today. Language is evolutionary, the Yoruba culture never expected what we are seeing in our country today".
