Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), addressed the recent incident when EFCC officers encountered resistance while attempting to arrest former Governor Yahaya Bello at his residence. In a video uploaded to YouTube by Channels TV, Olukoyede revealed that over thirty armed police officers were present during the attempted arrest.

Despite having more than fifty armed EFCC operatives at his disposal, Olukoyede chose to avoid a potential gunfight to prevent casualties. He emphasized that engaging in such actions could have resulted in the loss of lives among law enforcement officers. Olukoyede stressed that participating in a gunfight with other military personnel was not the appropriate course of action and that he would not have followed any command to do so.

In his own words, Olukoyede explained, "We encountered over 30 policemen, accompanied by over 50 gallant men. While we could have engaged in a firefight, we refrained, mindful of the potential casualties. Some criticize us for this restraint, asking why we didn't resort to forceful entry."
