LG autonomy: FG Erred Dragging States To Court–Okupe

Former Director-General of the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council , Dr Doyin Okupe, has faulted Federal Government’s on its court case against states over local government autonomy.

Okupe, a former Presidential spokesperson ,expressed the position in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos on Sunday.

The former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), described the Federal Government’s legal battle against the states for autonomy as needless and unfortunate.

Kebbi: N100m Spent To Clear Drainage – Gov Idris Cries Out [VIDEO]

Idris lamented that despite spending N100 million to clear a drainage, the refuse was not evacuated.

In a video, the governor expressed anger that the contractor left the drainage unattended after spending such a heavy amount.

Speaking in Hausa, “We spent N100 million to clear this drainage but this was left, it’s not free.”

The governor subsequently ordered the disposal of the refuse abandoned by the road side.

FG committed to security, welfare of citizens – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to the advancement, security and welfare of the citizens.

Shettima gave the assurance on Saturday when he led a Federal Government delegation to offer condolences to the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, in Keffi, the Nasarawa State capital.

The minister lost her mother, Mrs Aisha Sulaiman-Danladi, on Thursday at the age of 66.

Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, was accompanied by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari; and the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa, Dr Emmanuel Akabe.

FG Threatens To Terminate Julius Berger, CCECC Calabar Road Contracts

The federal government has threatened to terminate the contracts of Julius Berger and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) over the handling of the Calabar-Itu Road project.

Minister of Works, David Umahi gave the two construction companies one week to remobilise to site or face termination of their contracts.

Speaking on Saturday in Uyo during a Stakeholders’ Engagement on the alignment of section 3B and 4 of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Umahi gave the contractors marching orders to mobilise to site, saying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has released enough funds for the projects.

“We use this opportunity to warn CCECC, out of 35 kilometres, they just completed 2.5 kilometres double carriage way and 4.5 on single; that is very terrible. You talk to them, they say it is because of compensation.
