The Alake of Egba Land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has called on President Bola Tinubu to declare July 13 a national day dedicated to celebrating the contributions of Noble Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, to humanity both nationally and globally.

Gbadebo also said that the Federal Government should honour Soyinka with the second highest national honour of Grand Commander of Order of Niger as the Nobel laureate marks his 90th birthday.

The traditional ruler said that Egba land has already decided that July 13,which is the birthday of the Nobel laureate, would henceforth be celebrated as Wole Soyinka Day.

We Won’t Scrap 33 LCDAs–Ondo State Government Assures

Ondo state government has allayed fears that the 33 Local Council Development Authorities, LCDAs, created by the late governor Rotimi Akeredolu, would be scrapped.

Recall that an Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure had nullified the newly created 33 Local Government Development Areas in the state, describing the LCDAs, as illegal and unlawful

Speaking in Akure, the state capital, the states Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, who allayed the fears of the people, said the government would appeal the judgment of an Akure High Court that invalidated the council areas.

Protest looms over hunger, Agbakoba warns FG

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, has warned that what he described as hunger riot might soon break out in Nigeria, calling on the Federal Government to act fast.

Agbakoba disclosed this on Tuesday while addressing newsmen in his office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

According to him, the majority of Nigerians could not put food on their tables due to extreme poverty.

This, he said, occurred despite the nation’s enormous oil and gas resources which, according to him, have been hijacked by foreigners.

BREAKING: CBN to sanction banks for rejecting old, small Dollar denominations

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has threatened to sanction Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) for rejecting old and small denominations of the United States of America Dollars.

In a circular issued by the Ag. Director of Currency Operations Department of CBN, with reference: COD/DIR/INT/CIR/001/017, the apex bank said its market intelligence had revealed the continued rejection of the affected Dolla notes, which it described as unacceptable.
