According to Vanguard, The Labour Party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has provided an explanation for the malfunctioning of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) servers during the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, the presence of criminal activity hindered the functioning of the servers during the previous general elections. Obi made these remarks while discussing various issues related to the 2023 elections, including the IREV servers, in Canada over the weekend.

He emphasized the need for increased engagement with all stakeholders to ensure the proper functioning of the system. The former governor of Anambra State further clarified that Amazon confirmed there were no global glitches reported on the day of the presidential election.

He said: “Where did we go wrong in the last election? We didn’t go wrong anywhere. We did the right things.

“However, as I often explain to people, when you introduce a change, you inevitably face opposition from those who benefit from the existing system. They don't simply disappear; they unite against you. Additionally, it's important to understand that removing an established institution is not a straightforward process.

“It’s a long-distance journey anywhere in the world. Go and check anywhere, whether you are looking at what happened in India, with Mandela in South Africa, or America. No change has happened overnight, it takes time.

"I urge all of you, if you truly want change, that we have only just begun. We simply need to carry on from where we currently stand.

"Yes, there may be a few things that require correction, and we will address those issues. I assure you that we are rectifying them without specifying them. It will not be an easy task.

"The INEC server was manipulated by those in power. They intentionally made it dysfunctional. However, we will persist in asserting that it can function properly. Nevertheless, there were no technical malfunctions.

"Amazon confirmed that there were no technical malfunctions. Any glitches experienced by Amazon are recognized on a global scale and are documented worldwide. During that time, we brought in an Amazon representative who provided the number of glitches they have encountered since their establishment."
