Senate President Godswill Akpabio spoke to the country on Tuesday, encouraging Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu's administration's success in a speech characterized by its humorous tone. He implied that Tinubu would be re-elected for a second term when he expected notable improvements in the following seven years. During the opening ceremony of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, Akpabio said these things. He said, “I have no doubt that by the time the president is through with his tenure in the country, seven years from today, many people will not recognise FCT, they will not recognise Nigeria again.”

He urged Nigerians to maintain their optimism and support for the government instead of worrying about the difficulties the nation is currently undergoing. “Let us continue to pray for him and be hopeful that the challenges you see today, tomorrow, you will see them no more,”

He stated, pointing to Tinubu's accomplishments in Lagos as an example of future success for the entire country. In addition, Akpabio commended President Tinubu for appointing former governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike as the Federal Capital Territory Minister, describing the decision as appropriate. “I believe that you are a square peg in a square hole and I must thank the President for having the eyes to pinpoint those who can perform and bringing them,” Akpabio remarked.

In the past, Akpabio had made the contentious claim that Nigeria's insecurity was exacerbated by the outdated national anthem. His most recent remarks, in which he promises Nigerians a better future under Tinubu's leadership, are still provoking public debate.
