According to Vanguard, the coaches of Benin Republic and Rwanda, the Super Eagles' group opponents in the 2025 AFCON qualifying series, shared their thoughts on the draw that will see their teams lined up against the three-time African champions.

Head coach Gernot Rohr, from Benin, is optimistic about the Squirrels' chances of facing the Super Eagles, who recently recorded an impressive 2-1 win over Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Rohr, who previously coached the Super Eagles for six years, believes his team can achieve the same success against Nigeria. "It's difficult to draw again because Nigeria is there. And then we have Rwanda, an opponent we know well and are wary of. And Libya has a good team too. It will be a tough journey there," Rohr told the Benin Football Association's official website.

Rwanda head coach Torsten Frank Spitler expressed concern about the competitiveness in the group. "It's actually a bit sad that we have two teams in the group, Nigeria and Benin, playing in the same group in World Cup qualifiers, but that's the way it is," Spitler told the Rwanda Football Association's official website.
