Chief Eddy Olafeso, the former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West region, exudes confidence and optimism about the party's prospects in the upcoming Ondo governorship election. Despite recent disagreements within the Ondo PDP, Olafeso believes that the party is on track and ready for the challenge ahead.
He emphasized that the PDP has ample time—seven months—to make necessary preparations for the election. Olafeso expresses his readiness, stating that by October, they will be fully prepared and focused on clinching victory. The PDP's strong national presence and its ability to attract capable individuals for leadership roles bolster his confidence in the party's potential success.
Addressing the past disputes within the party, Olafeso reassures that all issues have been resolved through constructive dialogue and consensus-building. He stresses unity among party members and leaders, emphasizing a collective goal to unseat the incumbent APC government in Ondo State and across Nigeria.
In an interview with The Sun, Olafeso said, "We are very hopeful. Seven months is enough time to prepare. If you ask me this question in October, I will tell you that we are ready. Seven months is enough time for us to prepare and win the election. PDP is a known name across the country. It is getting very resourceful people to run and to get the ticket to the right person. To ensure that the process is clean, clear, credible, and then we can be talking about victory in the future.
There is no disagreement. There were certain issues that needed to be ironed out. And they have all been ironed out. We are one. I am one of the leaders. And I don’t see anybody that is fighting anybody at this moment. We are united, ensuring that we kick out APC and the lackluster government in Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole."
