According to industrialist and elder statesman Chike Obidigbo, who asserts that Tinubu's case is solely about security, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is not being held hostage by President Bola Tinubu, as reported by The Nation News. He lamented that his plight was becoming worse because of the politicisation of the push for his release by specific Igbo leaders. Not to make things worse for the Indigenous People of Biafra Leader (IPOB), he warned lawmakers, especially those in the Southeast.

He was shocked to hear that several Igbo political heavyweights are mishandling the public demand for the release of the leader of the impoverished IPOB group. The overzealous politicians, according to Obidigbo, are mostly ignorant and focused on themselves. Obidigbo, an industrialist and elder statesman, emphasised that the detention of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is purely related to security concerns. Tinubu is the president of Nigeria.

Speaking to the media in Awka, Anambra State, on Sunday, July 7, Obidigbo emphasised the need for discreet diplomacy to find a political solution to Kanu's imprisonment, emphasising that it is delicate and should not be used as a political football.

He Said: “It is obvious that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not entirely the one holding Nnamdi Kanu.
