According to Sportbible, Manchester United, in their ongoing quest to rejuvenate their squad, are reportedly closing in on a £34 million deal to acquire defender Miguel Gutierrez from Real Madrid this summer.

Gutierrez, coming off a standout season with Girona where he contributed to their Champions League qualification, has attracted attention from several top clubs across Europe. Despite Real Madrid holding a buyback clause for the left-back, they are poised to exercise it only to promptly transfer him to Manchester United, as per reports cited by Express.

The 20-year-old has impressed with his performances at Girona, showcasing his capabilities in the left-back role. However, Real Madrid's plans for their defensive lineup, particularly with Ferland Mendy likely to stay and potential interest in Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, suggest a surplus in that position.

Real Madrid's strategy seems oriented towards leveraging Gutierrez's transfer to generate profit this summer, given their reported intent to re-sign him and then swiftly negotiate his move to Manchester United.
