Some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, who recently resigned from the party in Imo State, have said they left the opposition party because it was no longer attractive.

Recall that shortly after its 98th National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, 18th April, the opposition party fell into a web of controversy following the outcome of the meeting.

Before the NEC meeting, some chieftains of the party across the country had expected the PDP NEC to take a bold decision against the various allegations of anti-party levelled against members of the defunct G-5 governors in the party led by former Rivers State governor and Federal Capital Territory minister, Nyesome Wike.

However, the PDP NEC made a defiant silence to the anti-party allegations, and even extended the reign of the party’s acting national chairman, Umar Damagum till the party’s next NEC meeting.

The Federal Government has not yet released the database containing the details and photographs of the 105 inmates who escaped from the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre, Niger State, despite the 72-hour timeframe since the prison break.

A downpour on Wednesday night wreaked havoc on the custodial centre resulting in extensive damage to the facility and facilitating the escape of 119 inmates.

The downpour caused severe damage to the custodial centre’s infrastructure, including a breach in the perimeter fence, allowing inmates to flee.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, after inspecting the damage highlighted the need for reforms in over 240 custodial centres nationwide.
