She was a key member of the former President Uhuru Kenyatta inner circle. So trusted was Prof. Margaret Kobia that she was handed the powerful public service ministry.
By her own higher standards, many believe that Prof. Kobia's stint in the powerful docket was a success.
But the 2022 regime change that saw President William Ruto take over the reigns of power from Uhuru swept her out of government as Dr Ruto picked former Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa as her successor.
Prof. Kobia returned to the world of academics where she had made a name for herself as an intellectual.
Now at the University of Nairobi and St Paul's University in Limuru where she serves as Chancellor, Prof. Kobia could be one of President Ruto's surprise names in the new-look cabinet.
With her successors believed to have performed below standards, could Prof. Kobia be the person to right all the wrongs of the ruinous reign of her successors?
Though her chances of making a comeback appear remote, but the former Kenyatta University lecturer is a person to watch.
