According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), The Coalition for Yobe East Progressive Youths has called on Senator Ahmed Lawan to contest for Yobe governorship in 2027.
The president of the coalition, Yarima Goni, made the call at a news briefing on Sunday in Damaturu.
Mr Goni cited the need for strong and visionary leadership to drive the state towards prosperity, given its slow pace of progress compared with other states, as the reason for the call.
He praised Mr Lawan’s qualities of integrity, vision and effective governance, as well as his proven track record.
Mr. Goni implored Mr. Lawan to answer the call of duty and declare himself a candidate for governor in 2027.
He gave his word that the organisation would organise and support Mr. Lawan in order to make sure he won the job.
Mr. Goni enumerated the group's goals for the state under Mr. Lawan's direction, which included enhanced infrastructure, prosperous enterprises, and easy access to high-quality education.
In order to ensure that the state has a bright future, he urged all parties involved to work together.
