According to Vanguard, In Akure on Wednesday, Honorable Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming November 16 governorship election in Ondo State, expressed confidence in his ability to defeat incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Ajayi, a former Deputy Governor, highlighted his grassroots connections and deep understanding of the local economy as key advantages in his campaign. During his unveiling by the PDP leadership, he emphasized his commitment to revitalizing the state's economy through sustainable growth and development.

Ajayi pointed out that his vision for Ondo State includes a significant economic transformation, aimed at lifting residents out of the stagnation he attributes to the current administration's policies. He described the current state of governance under the All Progressives Congress (APC) as detrimental, leading to economic downturns in many previously thriving communities. Ajayi asserted that the failures of the ruling party have left many residents struggling, and he vowed to address these issues if elected.

A major focus of Ajayi’s campaign is on agriculture, where he criticized the lack of support for mechanized farming in the state. He lamented the absence of essential farming equipment like tractors, which he believes is crucial for modern agricultural practices. Ajayi argued that with proper support and resources, Ondo State has the potential to not only sustain itself but also contribute significantly to the food supply of the entire South West region.

Ajayi’s proposals include the introduction of policies that would encourage massive mechanized farming, providing farmers with the necessary tools and facilities to thrive. His approach, he claims, would ensure that agriculture becomes a cornerstone of Ondo State’s economy, creating jobs and boosting local production. Ajayi’s campaign promises reflect his broader strategy of leveraging the state’s natural resources and human capital to foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

He said: “There is no single tractor provided for farmers in Ondo State, so, how do you expect mechanized farming to thrive in such state? I believe that Ondo State can feed the entire South West states. My government will encourage massive mechanized farming, farmers will be provided with adequate facilities to aide their businesses.”
