According to Vanguard, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has pledged to make Edo State a comfortable place by prioritizing security and poverty alleviation if elected governor.

Speaking at the inauguration of the New Media Committee of the APC Campaign Council, Okpebholo emphasized the committee’s role in engaging young people, students, young entrepreneurs, and all those active on new media platforms. He highlighted the importance of a safe environment for business and daily activities, which he believes will help alleviate hardship and hunger.

"I have always been concerned with people’s problems and their welfare. If I have the opportunity to be the governor of this state, I will ensure that every person living in Edo State enjoys the good things of life," Okpebholo stated.

He expressed confidence in the New Media Committee's ability to support his campaign and urged its members to work diligently for his victory and that of the APC in the upcoming election on September 21.

His running mate, Hon Dennis Idahosa, also called on committee members to give their best in mobilizing Edo people for the election. He stressed the importance of their work in achieving victory.

Inaugurating the committee, Sen. Matthew Urhoghide, Director General of the APC Campaign Council, highlighted the significant role of new media in creating awareness. He urged committee members to be objective and factual in their reporting to avoid unnecessary libel.

"My only appeal to you members of the new media committee is to be objective and factual in your reporting of the events as they happen. There should be no falsehood in your reporting, because we do not want to be dragged into unnecessary libel," Urhoghide stated. He assured the committee of full support and encouragement in promoting their candidate and presenting him as the best choice for Edo State.
