Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, a key member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has put forward a suggestion to introduce a reward system aimed at fostering excellence among ministers in President Bola Tinubu's administration.

The proposal, as reported by Daily Post, comes from Nwosu, who previously served as the Chief of Staff to Rochas Okorocha, the former Governor of Imo State.

Nwosu emphasized the significance of instilling accountability and efficiency within the government structure.

In a statement to reporters in Abuja, Nwosu underlined the necessity for President Tinubu to acknowledge and incentivize ministers who excel in their respective roles.

He stressed the importance of recognizing and rewarding outstanding performance as a means to encourage dedication and diligence among government officials.

By advocating for a reward system, Nwosu aims to promote a culture of excellence and productivity within President Tinubu's administration.

Nwosu contended that implementing such a system would not only promote effective service delivery but also contribute to achieving developmental objectives and providing democratic benefits to Nigerian citizens.

While recognizing that it might be premature to fully evaluate Tinubu's administration, nearing its one-year mark, Nwosu expressed confidence in the president's direction.

He highlighted several areas where Tinubu's leadership has shown promise, including infrastructure development, urban renewal efforts in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and advancements in finance and the solid minerals sector. However, Nwosu did not avoid discussing areas of concern within the administration.

He specifically criticized the handling of the power sector, particularly the recent 300 percent electricity tariff hike.

Nwosu argued that such a significant increase could negatively impact medium and small-scale industries, advocating for a review of the policy to ensure economic stability and growth.

Uche Nwosu said, "Let me stress that the President Tinubu administration is just getting to one year in office. When you look at the ministers that were appointed last year, people will be asking, 'How many of them have done well?'

"But we should also be looking at a reward system whereby ministers that perform well should be rewarded.

"In fact, if I am Mr. President (Tinubu), any minister that has performed wonderfully well should be given a national honour."
