Lawyer stresses agric to fight high cost

United States-based lawyer, Owolabi Salis, has advised President Bola Tinubu to concentrate on bringing down the cost of food.

In a statement, he urged the Federal Government to address the issue, noting over a year since the administration, rising cost of food had been of great concern.

He said: “… the situation is now intolerable, to say the least, in view of the increasing cost of foodstuff now out of the reach of the poor. Certainly things should not continue this way to avert disaster.

Tinubu, Kogi Mourn Ex-CDS Ogohi

President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the family of former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi (retd.), who passed away on Sunday.

Ogohi served as Defence Chief from 1999 to 2003 in the first tenure of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

His death was confirmed by the Director of Information, Nigerian Navy, Commodore Adama-Aliu.

“President Tinubu mourns the late Admiral, stating that his services to the nation will always be remembered,” a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, read.

The statement was titled, ‘President Tinubu mourns former Chief of Defence Staff Ibrahim Ogohi.’

The President prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort to his family.

Also, the military mourned Ogohi, who died aged 75 in the early hours of Sunday.

Ex-FCDA Director Dies at 90

Festus Oseni, the pioneer Director of Development and Civil Engineering Services at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), has passed away at the age of 90. He died peacefully on June 3, 2024. Oseni is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. A wake and commendation service will be held on July 8, 2024, at Our Saviour Anglican Church, Onikan, Lagos, with the funeral service the following day, followed by a private interment.

Family sends SOS to IGP over officer who shot man to death in Lagos

The family of Toheeb Eniafe, shot dead by a police officer in Lagos on May 1, 2024, urged the Inspector General of Police to expedite the investigation. The officer who ordered the shooting, Omeje Christian, was apprehended, but the shooter remains at large. The family fears a cover-up and seeks justice. A witness recounted the incident, stating Toheeb was shot at a petrol station after an altercation involving police vehicles blocking the exit. The family's plea includes appeals to government and human rights organizations for support.
