Salihu Lukman, the former Vice National Chairman, North West, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently shared his insights on President Bola Tinubu's leadership, his reasons for resigning from the party, and his views on the electorate's lack of confidence in Tinubu for the upcoming general elections. These remarks were made during an interview with a group of journalists, as reported by The SUN.

During the discussion, Lukman was asked whether his resignation from the APC was driven by dissatisfaction with Bola Tinubu's administration.

Lukman responded by highlighting what he considered one of President Tinubu's major errors: the abrupt announcement of the removal of the fuel subsidy. He criticized Tinubu for making this declaration during his inauguration without first developing a comprehensive plan to mitigate the impact on the populace. Lukman pointed out that, even to this day, no concrete measures have been put in place to address the fallout from this decision.

In his words, "One of the biggest mistake President Bola Tinubu made was making that inauguration declaration where he declared that “subsidy is gone” without even settling down to think of a plan that will cushion the effect."

He emphasized that such a significant policy change required careful planning and a strategy to cushion its effects on the economy and the livelihoods of ordinary Nigerians. Lukman argued that this lack of foresight and preparation contributed to his disillusionment with the party and its leadership.
