In a recent interview with Channels Television, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), made a surprising revelation about President Ahmed Bola Tinubu's involvement in the union's strike. Osodeke disclosed that Tinubu, then a private citizen, informally intervened during the strike, showing his concern for the nation's education system.

Furthermore, Osodeke revealed that ASUU had formally requested a meeting with Tinubu, seeking to discuss not only their union's issues but also to present a document aimed at repositioning Nigeria's education system and economy. Unfortunately, they received no response.

According to him, "We must tell the Nigerian public that the present President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, was one of those who intervened when we were on strike informally. And when we came to him, we also wrote him to request a meeting, not just to discuss our issues but for the academia, the brain of the country. We set up a panel to also give him a document that we believe will assist him in repositioning the Nigerian education system and the economy, but we didn't get a reply."
