Rivers Crisis: The agenda is unfolding and it is a terrible agenda of our state. This is the direction-Olaka Nwogu
Former Senator Olaka Nwogu of Rivers State contended that the prevailing narrative painting the governor as a victim and the Minister as the aggressor was flawed, as reported by INDEPENDENT.
He argued that upon closer examination, it becomes evident that the Minister's only action was to appoint the governor, making the governor the one facing undue scrutiny and attacks.
Nwogu asserted that the governor is, in fact, a victim of unwarranted and undeserved attacks, suggesting that the unfolding agenda is detrimental to the state and directly challenges the President's authority.
He expressed concern that pursuing this course would indicate a lack of respect for the President's intervention efforts and the established governance agenda.
Furthermore, Nwogu criticized the escalation of tensions caused by the probe into the past administration, questioning the legitimacy of the records being used as evidence.
He deemed the situation absurd, highlighting the irony of the person initiating the investigation also being the custodian of the records.
He said that, “So he is actually a victim of unwarranted and undesired attack. This agenda is unfolding and it is very terrible agenda of our state. This is the direction.
This is a direct spite on the President. If he chooses to abandon the eight point agenda and to pursue this course, it means he has no respect for President’s intervention.
“This is an unnecessary escalation. It tenses the place up. As a governor do your job. You will be judged by the infrastructures you provide but if you think that fighting people will add to your scorecard, let us see how.
“If you want to probe the past administration, on which records? The person setting up the panel is also the record keeper. This is just the most absurd of all the absurdities.”
