According to The Times of Israel, In the Nur Shams refugee camp in the West Bank this morning, an Israeli soldier named Sgt. First Class (res.) Yehuda Geto, 22, lost his life due to a roadside bomb attack. Another soldier from the Duvdevan commando unit was also seriously injured in the incident.

The soldiers were in a Panther armored personnel carrier (APC) when the bomb went off, with Geto driving at the time.

The attack took place in an area where the army did not expect explosive devices to be present, as other Duvdevan troops had left the APC for a separate operation on foot at that moment.

The blast disabled the APC, which was later removed from Nur Shams. According to an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) investigation, the bomb used a significant amount of explosives.

After the incident, as the IDF was extracting the soldiers, there was an attempt to carry out a drone strike against a group of gunmen in the vicinity.

However, the missile failed to detonate, and in an attempt to manipulate it, some gunmen accidentally caused an explosion that killed a Palestinian woman nearby.

Furthermore, a Palestinian gunman who tried to fire at the Duvdevan troops was killed by them.

According to the Palestinian Authority's health ministry, two fatalities, including a woman and a child, were reported in Nur Shams.

This tragic event follows a recent attack in the Jenin area, where a soldier lost his life and 16 others were injured by Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives detonating bombs against Israeli military vehicles during a raid.
