ALBANIA’S LOSS, GOODNEWS TO England, France, Netherlands as they cruise into Euro knockout stage

opera.com 5 days ago

Spain beat Albania 1:0 yesterday in Dusseldorf courtesy of Ferran Torres’ goal thereby becoming the winner of Group B. This result relieves England, France, and the Netherlands as they all have qualified for the next stages of the competition.

While it is expected that all England from Group C, Netherlands and France from Group D will play today Tuesday 25th June, all three of these countries have also qualified to the next stage following the result of Group B matches under the best 3rd placed teams rule.

They look for a fairer draw in the next stage as a win for them on Tuesday may guarantee they are positioned the first or second on their respective group tables.

The Three Lions presently sit on top of the Group table with 4 points as they prepare for Slovenia. To guarantee winning the group, they must go for the 3 points even though a point can serve same purpose on the condition that Serbia secure a point from Denmark which will simultaneously be played at same time.

Poland who are already going home shall be playing for glory against France while the Netherlands shall battle it out against Austria. Three points for Austira in todays match guarantees a place for them in the round of 16 in their 4th quest for glory in Europe.

Earlier, last Friday, France and Netherlands played out a goalless draw and thereby shared points with 4 points each after 2 games. If France and Netherlands record win on the 25th of June 2024, the team with superior goal difference shall top the group, and so there is still much to fight for as both glory and rankings shall have to be affected.

Below are the fixtures Tuesday, June 25

·        Netherlands vs Austria (Berlin)

·        France vs Poland (Dortmund)

·         England vs Slovenia (Cologne

·        Denmark vs Serbia (Munich
