We Believe Abiola's Soul Will Rest In Peace On The Day Tinubu Will Take Over From Buhari-The Natives
A group known as The Natives has said that Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the February 25th election, and that the mandate was not stolen. The group said this on Monday while staging a protest in Abuja in support of Tinubu.
While speaking to journalists, the leader of the group, Smart Edwards, said that Nigerians should not allow a repeat of the June 12th, 1993, experience. He said that they believe that MKO Abiola's soul will rest in peace on the day that Tinubu will be sworn in as President.
It should be recalled that Nigerians had gone to the poll on June 12th, 1993, to elect their next President. The late MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) was presumed to be the winner of the election, but the election was later annulled by the former military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida.
Edwards said that the elections are now over, and called on those who are hurt by the outcome of the elections to be patriotic and give Nigeria a chance to grow.
In the report which was made by The Cable, he said - "We believe that MKO Abiola's soul will rest in peace on the day Bola Ahmed Tinubu takes over from President Muhammadu Buhari. I am also appealing in the name of the Almighty God to all Nigerians to please give peace a chance. We cannot continue to protest on the streets everyday."
