Prof. Chidi Osuagwu, a former Imo State chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, expressed concern about the increasing insecurity in Igbo land. He noted that some of the insecurity issues are orchestrated by malevolent actors who harbor negative intentions towards the Igbo people.

Prof. Osuagwu criticized the current governors in Igbo land for what he perceives as their inability to effectively address the security challenges facing the region.

He praised Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for his efforts in tackling insecurity, particularly pointing out a notable reduction in criminal kidnappings in the Umunneochi axis following Otti's intervention.

However, he emphasized that the overall security situation in Igbo land remains a significant concern and requires a more comprehensive and proactive approach from the leadership to curb the pernicious trend of insecurity.

According to Vanguard, Osuagwu said, “The insecurity in Igbo land, some of it engineered by unexpected actors that wish the Igbo people ill, has become pernicious. It appears to be beyond the vision of the present crop of governors in Igbo land. The attempt to address the insecurity issue head-on by Governor Alex Otti of Abia State succeeded for a while, at least the relentless criminal kidnappings in the Umunneochi axis lessened appreciably."
