Fubara: No person can run me down, no person can also remove me here - Martins Amaewhule
According to the report from SYMFONI TV, In a significant political move, members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, paid a solidarity visit to the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executive committee on Thursday. The lawmakers expressed their confidence in the leadership of Chukwuemeka Aaron, who currently leads the state PDP.
The visit, which was part of efforts to strengthen party unity and cooperation in the new year, marked a display of goodwill among party members. Amaewhule, along with other legislators, reiterated their support for the PDP’s leadership in the state, particularly emphasizing Aaron’s guidance and leadership.
During the visit, Amaewhule also addressed ongoing political concerns and accusations surrounding the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Lawmakers loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike have accused Fubara of allegedly sponsoring the Action Peoples Party (APP), a move they claim could undermine the political dominance of the PDP in the state.
In a passionate address, Amaewhule stated, “No person can run me down, no person can also remove me here. Because the same way I wanted you to be there, is the same way God made me to be here for me. I don’t have anything to say but to say God, I remain grateful to you because God brought all of us here.” He continued, emphasizing the importance of unity and collective strength within the party: “God, if God had not done that, today you wouldn’t be here. So I want to thank all of you and also let you know that they want to banish this party. I saw you from time. Yes sir, we were elected. You voted for me and my Exco, he voted for the world Exco, he voted for Theo.”
The remarks reflect the tension brewing within the Rivers PDP, as political loyalties shift and new power dynamics unfold. While the support for Fubara within the party remains divisive, the solidarity visit underscored the resolve of Amaewhule and his supporters to maintain their stance and ensure the PDP’s continued influence in the state.
As the political landscape in Rivers evolves, all eyes will be on how these internal conflicts impact the party’s future direction and its relationship with Governor Fubara.
