In a recent statement, Senator Shehu Sani, a prominent human rights crusader and public commentator, has spoken out against the government of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

In a recent interview with The Sun, Senator Sani criticized El-Rufai's administration, which spanned from 2015 to 2023, describing it as combative and irresponsible.

When asked if he had ever advised the state's leaders, both past and current, on how to improve the situation, Senator Sani responded with a resounding criticism of El-Rufai's governance.

Senator Sani explained the nature of El-Rufai's government, labeling it "a belligerent, combative, arrogant and irresponsible government that we have had for eight years from 2015 to 2023."

He underlined the confrontational stance that characterized the administration, which he believes made it impossible to offer any advice.

"The last administration was almost fighting everybody. El-Rufai’s government was fighting religious clerics, Christian religious clerics, was fighting people of Southern Kaduna, it was fighting civil servants, it was fighting Labour, it was fighting teachers, it was fighting politicians, it was fighting traditional rulers, it was fighting almost everybody."

"So, it was a belligerent, combative, arrogant and irresponsible government that we have had for eight years from 2015 to 2023. There was no way we could advise him because we and him drew a battle line and we fought for eight years. And he persecuted me for those eight years. He used all sorts of strategies and tactics and all sorts of thuggish ways," he said.
