Kano Police Arrest 149 Suspects Including Kidnappers Operating in Zamfara and Neighboring States

According to Punch, the Kano State Police Command has arrested 149 suspects, including two suspected kidnappers, who had been operating in Zamfara and other neighboring states. This was disclosed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, during a news conference at the police headquarters in Bompai, Kano, on Thursday.

One of the suspected kidnappers, Ibrahim Sani, known as "Giwa," from Wake village in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State, was apprehended by the Anti-kidnapping Squad's surveillance team. Sani confessed to being a serial kidnapper involved in multiple kidnappings in Zamfara and neighboring states.

The second suspected kidnapper, Tasiu Sani from Misku village in Gezawa LGA of Kano State, conspired with his syndicate to kidnap Alhaji Sa’adu Balarabe at his farm in Warawa LGA, Kano, on May 28. They used Balarabe's mobile phone to demand a ransom of N15 million. The case is currently under investigation.

Among the other 147 suspects arrested were 106 suspected thugs, 25 armed robbery suspects, three suspected drug dealers, three suspected motor vehicle thieves, three suspected motorcycle thieves, and eight suspected thieves.
