FCT Residents Unimpressed With Wike's Performance, Say He’s Building Roads Where Bulk Of People Don’t Live –Senator Kingibe

A serving Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory under the platform of the Labour Party, Ireti Kingibe, has said that the performance of the FCT minister Nyesom Wike has not impressed the residents.

The Senator who said this, while appearing on Arise News TV on Sunday, added that all infrastructural projects inaugurated by Wike so far would not benefit the masses.

She accused the minister of not being interested in solving critical socio-economic issues affecting the people of FCT.

She said, “The minister may be a great minister in a ministry that has no people. But the unique situation of the FCT minister is that apart from infrastructure and roads, he also has to take into consideration the needs of the people in that community. That is the difference between him and the minister of works, or any other ministry.

Transfer: No Napoli u-turn for Osimhen

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, remains determined to leave the club this summer.

Osimhen is also believed to be very keen on moving to the Premier League.

This is according to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.

There have been no concrete offers for Osimhen, whose release clause is now set at €120million.

Don’t panic over attacks on security agents – Otti urges Abia residents

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reassured all law-abiding residents of of their safety, in face of recent attacks on security agencies in the state.

Otti, who stated this on Sunday, while addressing worshippers at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Aba, told the people not to be discouraged or panic because of the recent ugly events.

The governor, who blamed the attacks on the handiwork of the enemies of the state who he said, are opposed to the new lease of life under his administration, reiterated that the state government will fish out those responsible for the recent attacks against the security agents.

Otti, who was in the church with top members of his cabinet, declared that the state has no space for criminals and thanked members of the church for their supports for him before and after elections.

Obajana-Benin road: FG terminates contracts with three firms for non-performance

The Federal Ministry of Works, has terminated contracts with three companies; Mothercat Ltd, Dantata & Sawoe Construction Ltd, and RCC Ltd, due to non-performance on the dualization of the Obajana-Benin road project.

According to a statement on Monday, by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Minister of Works, Orji Uchenna, the termination was necessary due to the inordinate delay and failure of the companies to fulfil their contractual obligations.

The Minister, David Umahi, directed engineers to take over the sites and measure the work done to facilitate the takeover from the companies.

He noted that the contracts, worth billions of naira, were awarded in 2012 but were abandoned by the contractors, leaving road users to suffer due to the deplorable condition of the road.
