In a sermon during the second service of "Provoking God's Blessings" at Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie underscored the importance of tithing and urged his congregation to heed the teachings of notable Nigerian pastors.
"Better listen to Adeboye’s, Oyedepo’s, and David Ibiyeomie's messages," he advised, highlighting the correlation between tithing and receiving God's blessings.
Ibiyeomie emphasized that adhering to the practice of tithing is essential for unlocking divine favor and blessings.
He pointed out that prominent pastors like Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners' Chapel) consistently teach and practice tithing, which has contributed to the success and growth of their ministries.
"Your tithe is not helping the Church, it's helping you," Ibiyeomie declared, reinforcing that tithing is a personal spiritual discipline with tangible benefits for the giver.
He challenged the congregation to observe the results of ministries that emphasize tithing, comparing them to those that do not. According to Ibiyeomie, the success of Adeboye's and Oyedepo's ministries is evidence of the power of tithing and adherence to biblical principles.
Addressing critics who dismiss tithing as outdated, Ibiyeomie used vivid analogies to underscore the credibility and results of those who advocate for it.
"Look the person. Before you hear somebody, first look am. If a madman says: 'I go give you clothes,' you no go run?" he quipped, encouraging the congregation to consider the fruits of those who preach against tithing.
Ibiyeomie concluded by urging believers to focus on the teachings of respected and successful pastors, including himself, Adeboye, and Oyedepo. "Pay tithe, if you no like, no pay na you sabi," he stated, emphasizing that consistent giving is crucial for experiencing God's blessings.
