During an interview with Arise TV, Professor Usman Yusuf, former Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, warned about the power struggle within the Kano Emirate. He urged caution and restraint from external parties, describing the conflict as a "fight between blood brothers." Yusuf emphasized the ancient heritage of the Kano Emirate, spanning over a thousand years.
He warned that external interference from the federal government, state government, or security agencies could worsen the situation and have unintended consequences. Instead, he advocated for a hands-off approach, allowing the internal process to unfold without interference.
In Usman Yusuf's words in a video (2:53), he said, "For us out here, we are very circumspect about discussing the Kano Issue, not only because it is before the court of law, but this is the fight between blood brothers. They should not meddle with Kano and allow the process to go through, but this is a fight between brothers, and when you get involved, you get burnt. But for us, this is what we see; it's another big distraction."
