Adolphus Wabara, the former president of the Senate, has reiterated his assertion that he turned down a N250 million bribe to back the contentious third-term agenda of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. Wabara reaffirmed his position in an appearance on "Untold Stories with Adesuwa" on YouTube, saying, "I didn't believe it when they said they were handing out N50 million per Senator." Wabara made it clear that he had resigned voluntarily, stressing, "I resigned; I was not ousted." He declared, with much passion, that Nigeria's democratic process must be protected.

"Without people like us, there wouldn't be democracy today."He thinks that endorsing the third-term strategy might have prevented the rise of leaders such as Buhari and Tinubu and resulted in a dictatorship. Wabara bemoaned the continued mistrust and propaganda directed towards the Igbo people as he considered the long-term effects of the Biafra War.

"We are still suffering from unfounded allegations,"Speaking to the idea that Igbo people are untrustworthy even though they were innocent during historical events, he stated.
