Chaos in Parliament as MPs Exchange Blows Over Deployment of KDF Troops to Deal With Protesters

The National Assembly convened on Wednesday where lawmakers debated on the deployment of the Kenya Defence Forces in different parts of the country to assist the police in containing angry protesters who are opposing the finance bill. 

According to reliable sources, the lawmakers convened on the floor of the house where they hurriedly approved the deployment of the military troops immediately. The motion was tabled by the National Assembly Leader of Majority Hon Kimani Ichungwah. 

The same sources also indicate that the lawmakers who were heavily divided on the motion of deployment of the military troops to combat protesters, exchanged blows and kicks on the floor of the house. The motion did not last for long as it was passed by those who supported it. 

This comes after President William Samoei Ruto assured the nation that he will protect their properties as well as provide security for them. He also slammed those who took part in the anti finance bill protests, saying that the protests were hijacked by goons. He vowed to deal with goons while describing who situation as treasonous.

On the other hand, angry protesters overpowered the police officers who were manning different parts of the country. Chaos were witnessed in Nairobi county where protester were shot outside the National Assembly. 

Part of the National Assembly was set on fire by protesters while governor Sakaja Nairobi county City Hall was also set on fire. This comes after the controversial Finance Bill was passed by the national assembly and is currently at President William Samoei Ruto desk awaiting his signature.
