Two wingers set to leave Chelsea as squad rebuilding continues

opera.com 2 days ago

Chelsea have been very busy in the transfer market this summer, as the club seeks to restructure the squad at the disposal of new boss Enzo Maresca ahead of the new season. The club has made some smart signings, but are also gearing towards selling some players that are deemed surplus to requirements. And two wingers look set to depart the club and take their talents elsewhere.

According to reports, Omari Hutchinson and Hakim Ziyech are both leaving Stamford Bridge. Hutchinson is set to return to Ipswich Town, where he spent last season on loan. The 20-year old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Ipswich, helping Kieran McKenna's side earn qualification to the Premier League as they finished second in the championship. The young winger is now set to join them on a permanent deal for a fee reported to be in the region of £22 million. Hutchinson was signed from Arsenal two years ago on a free transfer, and as such represents pure profit for the Blues.

While the transfer of Hutchinson is not yet official, that of Ziyech is official and confirmed, as the club has announced that he has departed to join Galatasaray on a permanent deal. The Morrocan talisman spent the last season on loan at the Turkish giants, and after a successful loan spell, Galatasaray triggered a buy option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season. This brings an end to Ziyech's time at Stamford Bridge, which began in 2021 under Frank Lampard. He won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World cup while at Chelsea.
