Arsenal are close to having a major breakthrough in the ongoing summer transfer market after reaching agreement to sign Tommy Setford.

The Gunners are in need of new arrivals and we're close to announcing one only for the deal to sign Calafiori to breakdown in the later stages.

Calafiori's club Bologna wants a sell-on clause, but the Gunners are cry adamant to grant them that. While Calafiori's deal has grown sadness amongst Arsenal faithfuls, there is a news here to put a smile on their faces.

According to a report made by The Athletic, Arsenal have agreed to sign English teenage goalkeeper Tommy Setford from Ajax.

The report also claims that Mikel Arteta's side will reportedly pay a fee in the region of £860k which is equivalent to €1m. Furthermore, the deal comes with add-ons for the 18-year-old who will reportedly sign an initial four-year contract with the North London side.

However, it is yet to be revealed if Setford would be the one to replace the departing Aaron Ramsdale.

Ramsdale lost his place to David Raya after the Spain international joined the club from Brentford on an initial loan deal last summer, playing most of the Premier League and Champions League games.

His transfer was recently made permanent, a proof that Mikel Arteta is willing to continue using him as his number one. Ramsdale on the other hand is in need of more playing time and has been rumoured to have asked the club to let him leave.
