Former Bauchi State governor and Chairman of the National Open University of Nigeria's (NOUN) Governing Council, Alhaji Isa Yuguda, has pledged not to overstep his bounds and interfere with the institution's affairs beyond the council's mandate. During his inaugural visit to the university, Yuguda assured that the council would work tirelessly to elevate NOUN's standards to a recognizable level. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, seeking the support and contributions of staff and students to achieve the council's objectives.

Yuguda's visit followed the inauguration of governing councils for all federal tertiary institutions in the country by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman. The NOUN Chairman, accompanied by Vice Chancellor Prof. Femi Peters and other principal officers, reiterated his commitment to an open-door policy. He alleviated concerns about potential clashes between the governing council and university management, stating that the council is aware of its responsibilities and will not overstep its bounds. With his experience in managing successful organizations, Yuguda is confident in his ability to lead the council in uplifting NOUN's standards.
