According to the report from the Sun, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South senatorial district in the National Assembly, has called on the youth in the Southeast to take action in ending the current insecurity in the region. He made this appeal during his address at the South East Youth Leadership Development and Value Reorientation Summit held in Enugu on Friday.

Senator Abaribe attributed the increasing wave of insecurity in the region to a loss of values and respect for human life. Therefore, he urged the youth to re-embrace the values of love and respect for one another.

Furthermore, Senator Abaribe advocated for the introduction of trade schools and trade certifications across the South East. This initiative aims to discourage young people from becoming willing tools in the hands of criminals.

In his speech, he emphasized the importance of returning to the values upon which our communities were built, such as love, unity, truthfulness, and respect for human life. He urged the youth to stand against criminals who disrupt economic activities under the guise of demanding self-actualization.

Senator Abaribe also expressed his concern for the youth of today, emphasizing that they must understand their values and not be recruited as tools for destruction. He stressed that the future belongs to them, and they have the power to shape it.

The Director-General of South East Governors Forum and convener of the summit, Uche Ekwunife, highlighted the significance of the program. He emphasized that the youth have an important role to play in the growth and development of not just the region but the entire country.
