As per a recent piece in The SUN, Eze Nzenwata Mbakwe, a prominent traditional leader in Abia State and a former member of Ime Obi, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has challenged the viewpoint of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, regarding Nigeria's readiness for state police. He contends that the perspective of the police chief represents a backward and outdated approach to tackling the security challenges posed by banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.

When asked about the ongoing efforts spearheaded by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu within Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide to promote unity among the Igbo both within Nigeria and globally, it is my belief, having been closely involved with Ohanaeze, that Chief Iwuanyanwu is indeed guiding the organization in the correct direction. I encourage Igbo leaders worldwide to support his administration wholeheartedly. Chief Iwuanyanwu has shown unwavering commitment to mobilizing collective endeavors for the progress and prosperity of the Igbo community.

Nevertheless, it is crucial to stress that this undertaking requires collective engagement and not solely the endeavor of one individual. Hence, it is imperative for the five state governors in the Southeast to foster open collaboration among themselves and work in synergy with Ohanaeze to promote enhanced development within the region.

Sadly, Igbo land has recently witnessed distressing occurrences, including the passing of esteemed Igbo figures such as the first civilian governor of Abia State and former Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu. Additionally, there is a strong desire for the release of our fellow citizen, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. His ongoing detention has adverse implications for the economic vitality of the geopolitical zone, as evidenced by voluntary sit-at-home actions resulting in significant losses.( Photo credit : The Sun Newspaper Official Facebook Page )

As per The Sun, he remarked: "We are appealing to President Bola Tinubu to use his good office to direct his release. If possible, let him be given conditions to adhere to. We appeal that he should be released for peace to reign."
