BREAKING: Tragedy as Explosion Kills Protester Carrying Dynamite In Port Harcourt

According to a report from Nigeria Tribuneonlineng, A protest in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, turned tragic when a middle-aged protester carrying dynamite lost his life.

The incident occurred near Hotel Presidential on Tuesday, June 25, causing chaos and panic in the area.

The explosion happened around 9:45 a.m., leading to immediate pandemonium. Eyewitnesses reported that the victim's body was swiftly removed as security forces arrived at the scene.

One witness, speaking anonymously, mentioned that the protest caused significant traffic disruptions as the demonstrators marched to their destination.

The protest was linked to supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who defied police orders to demonstrate against the local government tenure elongation crisis in Rivers State on Monday, June 24.

Approximately 100 protesters carried placards with various messages near the post office along Azikiwe Road in Port Harcourt.

The ongoing political unrest in Rivers State under Governor Siminalayi Fubara's administration shows no signs of abating.

Tony Okocha, chairman of the Rivers APC Caretaker Committee (CTC), has called for a state of emergency in the state to prevent further violence and instability in the oil-rich region.
