In a recent interview with Punch News, esteemed elder statesman and National Leader of the Pan-Niger Delta Forum, Chief Edwin Clark, highlighted the changed circumstances surrounding Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, now that he no longer enjoys immunity. According to Clark, Wike's loss of immunity makes him vulnerable to arrest at any moment.

Clark revealed that Wike is eager to maintain control over the government of his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, to ensure that his interests are protected. By doing so, Wike aims to keep Fubara in check and have a say in the appointments made by the new administration.

This development suggests a shift in the dynamics of Rivers State's political landscape, as Wike's loss of immunity has created a power vacuum that he is eager to fill. Chief Edwin Clark's comments offer valuable insight into the machinations at play in the state's political hierarchy.

According to him: “But now Wike no longer enjoys immunity. So, he could be arrested any day. But if he allows Fubara’s government to continue, as far as he is concerned, he doesn’t know what will follow. He wants to hold Fubara in his hands. He wants to know all those he appointed.“
